Remember how I said we were going to work on the rear brakes on my car this weekend? Well, that is only possible if you can get them off the car. Which we couldn’t. And don’t worry, apparently they don’t make a repair manual for the 2003 Toyota Echo. At least Chilton and Haines don’t (according to the various car parts stores we called in town), and those are the 2 repair manual brands we were familiar with. So, my car is in the shop today, getting the rear brakes checked and 4 new tires (because while we knew they were getting to the end of their cycle we didn’t realize quite how bad they were until we pulled a couple off the car). Oh, and an oil change. Thank God this was a 3 paycheck month for Ryan - most of it will end up going to car repairs. But, it’s all maintenance stuff, and considering the car has 100,000 miles on it and has only needed oil changes and a belt and new tires once prior to this, I think we are doing pretty well.

[UPDATE BEFORE I EVEN POSTED!] Ryan just called, and the garage checked all 4 wheels and all the brakes look just fine. The bill is less than half of what we expected. AWESOME. Yippee! [END UPDATE]

Other than that, our weekend was pretty awesome. We hung out with friends and went out to eat and otherwise lazed about the house. I took two naps yesterday. It was FABULOUS.

Does anyone else watch Next Food Network Star? We really like that show (although Ryan thinks there’s too much drama on it, but what reality show DOESN’T have drama??). We totally called last night’s result, so it wasn’t a surprise, although it is too bad. I do like Jamika.

I have to say, I kind of hope Melissa wins. At first I really liked Debbie, but the way she spins things to make herself look better aggravates me. First of all, you are being videotaped. People can look back and see what happened. Why lie about it? Also, don’t be a jerk. But that’s just my thought.
