Some friends of ours that we haven’t seen in a few months came through town tonight on their way home. We were able to have dinner with them as well as a bunch of our other friends from college that still live in town. It was a nice evening of visiting and laughing. Plus I didn’t have to cook or do the dishes, so that was good news too.
It is interesting to think how things have changed since we all graduated college. People are buying or have already bought houses, and a couple of them are already having kids (I like how I say “already,” even though we are in our late 20s. We aren’t that young). It makes me happy that we still hang out with these people, that even though the things that brought us together (college, pep band) are over, we are still friends. I just wish we all had time to get together more often.
We went camping last weekend and it was great. We had a lot of fun, and the weather was mostly nice. It did rain on Saturday afternoon for a couple of hours, but other than that it was alright. Ryan took a bunch of pictures, and I got him to actually take some of the people that we were camping with, so I’ll try to post some later this week if I have time. It is Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth this weekend, and one of Ryan’s high school friends is running in the marathon and staying with us, so we’ll have a busy weekend. There are usually about 50,000 extra people in town the weekend of the race…we’ll see how it goes this year. I plan on staying in the house as much as possible, other than when we walk down to watch Trent run past. I’ll try to get some photos of the race too.
What is up?

I’ve been in kind of a weird funk lately. I’m not sad or anything…I just have no motivation to do anything productive, and I can’t seem to get caught up at work (even though I have been working at it). When I get home I don’t want to do anything but sit and watch tv or talk to Ryan. I don’t know what my deal is.
How do people stay motivated? Is there some sort of trick that everyone else knows about that I don’t?
ps. Why does it seem like when one person I know is going through a hard time, there are at least 3 others I find out are also going through something rough? Why can’t we all be happy all the time? (OK, I know the answer to that one…but it still sucks).
Ryan and I are getting company this weekend. Well, really Ryan is getting company – I don’t think his high school friends are coming up to hang out with me. It should be fun, and I think we are going out on Friday night…but it means I have to help Ryan clean the apartment. Which, as mentioned above, is not on my list of top 10 fun things to do lately. Once I get going on it I’m sure it’ll be fine, but it’s taking that first step and doing the dishes or sweeping and mopping the floor that is the problem. I need a little house-cleaning fairy to come and do it for me. And make the bed, and better organize things so we actually have room for all of our stuff (especially Ryan’s computer stuff – for such small machines, the stuff takes up a LOT of room).
Well, I’ll be done rambling for today. Please fill me in on what you lack motivation to do. It will make me feel better!
And They’re Off!

The invitations have been mailed. It’s now official. No backing out. (Not that either of us would ever want to, right, honey?) What a relief to have them done and mailed. I even came into work a little late just so I could make sure and get them to the post office this morning. Now they are off my mind. I can’t imagine how really creative types do all that DIY stuff. It must take forever! I have the utmost respect for them. Unfortunately, Ryan and I are a little lacking in the “creative” department. We are both more heavily gifted with the “organized” or, as I like to call it, the ”it should all look the same…no, we aren’t obsessive!” department.
As you can tell, I didn’t have much follow through on my last post. I got some good suggestions from Shauna from Pickles & Dimes (if you haven’t read their blog, go now! Seriously!). But for some reason we chose a theme that doesn’t let me edit that stuff on the right. And so I will just have to live with it until we pick a new theme and get this all figured out. With the amount of free time we’ve had lately that should be sometime around October.
So, back to work. I’m trying to do up applications for a new business quote, and am having trouble getting some of the information I need from the sales person on the account. I love my coworkers, but sometimes they drive me crazy. I need at least the information requested in my notes, but more is better. Less is not acceptable. Oh well. It will all work out.
ps. My friend Terry from my freshman year of college is supposed to be coming to town tonight! I haven’t seen him in about 8 years, and he’s been overseas in the military most of that time (he just got home from Afghanistan 2 weeks ago). He should have some good stories. Yay for meeting up with old friends!
